Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a Minor in Athletic Training from Gardner-Webb University

K–6 Teaching Certification from Appalachian State University

Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with NASA-endorsed STEM Certification from Adams State University
Kathy taught in Rutherford County Schools for 27 years before retiring in 2025. She is also a NASA Teaching Fellow and a National Board-certified teacher.
Outside of school, Kathy lives in her childhood home in the Green Hill/Bill’s Creek area. Her brother and his family live in Knoxville, TN. She has a special person in her life named John who lives in Spartanburg. Kathy is also mom to a spoiled pet named Liza. She enjoys reading, spending time with Liza, and visiting antique shops and small towns like Chimney Rock. Kathy is a sports fan who likes University of Tennessee football, NASCAR, and bull riding. She is excited to be part of the TJCA family and to begin teaching at the Grammar School.
